MITH runs special events including lectures, symposiums, and conferences.

- On May 2-3, 2008, MITH and the Department of English will be organizing a multi-day symposium on
the
Digital Humanities and African American/African Diaspora Studies. Watch this space and the main MITH page for

- In May 2007, MITH and the Electronic Literature Organization sponsored a symposium on the
Future of Electronic Literature with an international array
of speakers and attendees and keynotes by Kenneth Thibodeau (National
Archives) and N. Katherine Hayles (UCLA). The symposium was preceded
by an Open Mic and Mouse featuring readings and performances of
creative work the evening before.
- In April 2007, MITH and the National Endowment
for the Humanities co-sponsored a summit meeting of Directors of
Digital Humanities Centers in downtown Washington DC. Keynote
speakers
included John
Unsworth (UIUC) and Vint Cerf (Google). This event led directly to
founding centerNet.

In April and May 2006, MITH partnered with the English department
to co-sponsor the English department's annual Petrou Lecture
Series with the theme of "New Media Storytelling."
Our guests were writer, illustrator, and artist Shelley
Jackson
(author of Patchwork Girl and Skin, among many other works), and
internationally famous comics artist Scott McCloud, author of
Understanding Comics, Reinventing Comics, and many works of comics
art.
